Poker Hand Rankings

Google

According to Poker Hand Rankings and predetermined rules poker players consturct hands of five cards. These hands are compared using a hand rankings system, and the player with the highest poker ranking hand wins that particular deal.

These poker hands are used primarily for poker, these rankings can also be used in other poker card games. The strength of poker hands is increased by having multiple cards of the same rank and all these cards being from the same suit, or having all the cards with same consecutive values.

General rules apply to evaluating poker hands and poker odds, no matter what set of hand values are used. These are just few simple basic poker insturctions about poker hands that can help your poker knowledge before playing the game.

Cards get ranked from Ace (high), K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, Ace. Aces only appear low when part of an A-2-3-4-5 straight flush or a straight . Individual poker card ranks are used to compare poker hands that have no pairs of any other combinations, or to compare kickers of equal hands. The ace plays low only in ace to five and ace-to-six lowball games, and can also be played high only in deuce to seven lowball.

We provide Poker Forums and Chat Rooms for all poker players to share there views on any poker topic. We even offer players a Forum Comment Form at the bottom of every page for all players to submit there feedback.

Suits really have no value, the suits of the cards are mainly used in determining if the hand fits a certain category (straight flush and flush). If two poker players have the same hands except for suit, then they tied each other and will split the pot (so 3 4 5 6 7 spades) will not beat (3 4 5 6 7 clubs) they are the same in poker hand rankings.

Sometimes ranking high cards by suit is used for selecting a player to deal. All hand always consists of five cards. In games where more than five cards are played and available to each player, only the best five card combination of those cards can play. Hands get ranked first by category, then by individual card rankings.

The lowest hand qualifying in certain categories will defeat the hands in lower categories. Even the smallest two pair hands, will defeat all hands with just one pair or high card. Only when two hands in the same category will poker hand rankings be used to break ties.
